482 visa salary floor rises to $79,499 on 1 July — what to do now
The Core Skills Income Threshold increases from $76,515 to $79,499 on 1 July 2026. If your employer hasn't lodged a nomination yet, timing matters.
Official source ↗The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) for the Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa is increasing on 1 July 2026.
Current threshold (until 30 June 2026): A$76,515 per year plus superannuation
New threshold (from 1 July 2026): A$79,499 per year plus superannuation
Who does this affect?
Any employer looking to sponsor a new 482 visa holder from 1 July 2026 onwards must pay at least A$79,499. If a nomination is lodged before 30 June 2026, the current A$76,515 floor applies.
This also applies to the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) — the higher of the CSIT or the AMSR is what the employer must pay.
What should you do?
If your employer is planning to lodge a nomination soon, lodging before 30 June 2026 locks in the lower threshold. If you're already sponsored, your existing nomination is not affected — but check your employment contract for salary review clauses.
The Specialist Skills stream (for high earners above A$141,210 in 2025-26) also has indexed thresholds. The 2026-27 figure has not been formally confirmed at time of writing — watch the DHA website for the official update.
Not migration advice. Always verify current thresholds on the Department of Home Affairs website before making decisions.
