Australia Travel Declaration rolling out nationwide by end of 2027
Australia is replacing paper passenger cards with a digital Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) at all airports and seaports. Travellers can pre-fill their declaration up to 72 hours before arrival.
Official source ↗The Australian Border Force is introducing the Australia Travel Declaration (ATD), a digital replacement for the paper-based incoming passenger card. Since October 2024, Qantas passengers have been able to use an in-app version to pre-fill their passenger card up to 72 hours before travelling to Australia. This pilot program will expand to all remaining Qantas flights at major Australian cities by the end of 2026. The Federal Government has committed $56.1 million to roll out a webform version of the ATD across all international airports and seaports nationwide before the end of 2027. This digital system will reduce manual processes at the border, allow secure collection of passenger information, enable quick updates to biosecurity questions, and provide a more convenient experience for travellers. According to Home Affairs, the ATD is part of broader border modernisation efforts including contactless arrivals clearance and streamlined baggage processing for domestic transfers.
