Biometric checks at Australian borders explained
Non-citizens may be asked to provide fingerprint scans when arriving or departing Australia. The scans are deleted immediately after checking and take only a few minutes.
Official source ↗When you arrive at or depart from an Australian airport, you may be required to have your fingerprints checked as a non-citizen. This biometric process helps the Department of Home Affairs verify your identity and check for any security concerns. A minimum of four fingerprints will be scanned and checked against the Department's immigration records and may also be checked against security or law enforcement databases. The entire process typically takes just a few minutes. Your fingerprint scans are not kept on file - they are deleted as soon as the check is completed. This is a routine security measure and does not affect your visa status. If you're asked to provide fingerprints by a Border Force officer, you should comply with the request.
