Pacific Engagement Visa (subclass 192) Now Has Two Separate Streams
From 1 May 2025, the Pacific Engagement visa split into two streams: one for Pacific island and Timor-Leste nationals, and one specifically for Tuvaluan nationals under a treaty agreement.
Official source ↗The Pacific Engagement visa (subclass 192) allows eligible citizens from Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste to live and work in Australia permanently. From 1 May 2025 onwards, this visa has been divided into two separate streams, each with its own application process and ballots.
The Pacific Engagement stream is for nationals of eligible Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste. The Treaty stream is exclusively for Tuvaluan nationals and implements Australia's obligations under the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union treaty.
Ballots for each stream are now conducted separately. The Pacific Engagement stream ballot closed on 29 July 2026, while the Treaty stream ballot for Tuvalu nationals closed on 1 June 2026. Applicants should check the Home Affairs website to determine which stream applies to them and the current ballot status.
