Queensland doubles visa places for 2025-26
Queensland's State Nominated Migration Program has opened with 2,600 places available in 2025-26, more than double the previous year's allocation.
Official source ↗Queensland has significantly expanded its skilled migration program for 2025-26, offering 2,600 nomination places - more than double the previous year. This includes 1,850 places for the Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190) and 750 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). The increased allocation aims to address critical workforce shortages in key sectors including construction, healthcare and manufacturing, as well as skills gaps across regional areas.
According to Home Affairs, eligible applicants should review Queensland's nomination pathways and Skilled Occupation Lists to determine which visa subclass they qualify for. The process involves checking whether your occupation is on the relevant list and then submitting a Registration of Interest.
If you're considering applying for Queensland state nomination, you should start by reviewing the eligibility criteria and occupation lists on Queensland's migration website. This expanded program may provide more opportunities for skilled workers to secure nomination, but availability is limited to the 2,600 places advertised.
